COVID-19 act ricochets into cash rebate program?
Surprisingly, in the draft COVID-19 spec law submitted to parliamentarians, the wording of Article 33 of the Law on Financial Support for Audiovisual Production was changed, in addition to provisions previously praised by the industry.
The change is radical, as it removes the budget-guaranteed 100 million zloty for the cash rebate program – widely praised and appreciated internationally. Polish Film Institute has allocated 57 million zloty in 2019 to support 30 films.
The coming days will show whether this provision will lead to the killing of so-called incentives and deepen the plight of the entire film industry.
